[[Welcome|Back to home]] # What is a digital garden? A digital garden is something like a person wiki, a space where one can share notes and thoughts that are organized organically by topic rather than by date like a blog post does. It is a living document where notes are updated over time, so the garden evolves as the writer learns and grows. I decided to use a digital garden as a medium to organize my thoughts and lower the stakes in my writing. I found that when working on a book, there's a sense of permanence that makes me stressed about "getting it right," which slows the process and affects my writing voice. I am rarely very certain about what I think, and my understanding of my chosen subjects are constantly evolving. If I wanted to share my work-in-progress, it's also harder to extract a chapter and have it make sense without additional context. Since I'm already using linked notes in [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) (the platform this digital garden is published on) privately for thinking and writing, it's fairly easy for me to make my existing book notes available in this format (with more polish, of course). Sharing my work this way also keeps the content evergreen and reduces perfectionism because my ideas can grow with me.
